The financial crisis strongly marked states around the world due to the increasing indebtedness of the states and of the banks, which went through, with few exceptions, a prolonged recession. The year 2014 seems to mark a new economic cycle, and the turnaround is seen in Romania, a state which has made progress in reinforcing and stabilizing the public finance sector, as well as resuming economic growth which must be followed by economic development. The concept of economic development is more complex than economic growth, which involves the design of certain directions for long-term sustainable growth, based on the optimum use of available resources, on the continuous development of innovative potential and human capital, reducing social inequalities, etc., where the investment process has a particularly important role.
From this perspective, analysing factors that influence the attraction of foreign investments, as a vector of economic development in the international context is the most important –this will be the main objective of this paper.

The Small and Medium Enterprise sector in Romania has been significantly affected by the global recession in the years 2008-2009; currently it is making efforts to revive it, thanks to important role it occupies in the economy of any country. SMEs raise wide debates, especially on fiscal measures. In Romania, SMEs represent 99.7% of all businesses, generating two-thirds of jobs in the business and half of gross value added. This paper focuses on the development of SMEs and hence on business environment in Romania. The purpose of this paper is to present the influence which regulations and evolution of businesses environment have on the SME sector.

The present article aims to bring into discussion the process of globalization – as central phenomenon of the 21st century. The areas of intervention where globalization is being noticed are various, from early history to the present day, in economics, marketing, IT, the educational system, politics, business, etc. The main idea that we want to set forth is the way globalization occurs in the economy, in general, and in some countries of the world (such as Bulgaria) and in Romania, especially, as well as the manner through which they succeed or not to take advantage of the effects of globalization. More or less, we depend on globalization, and the process of globalization and its impact in our times can be more or less controlled.
